Q: What does the Click2Enter-I (C2E-I) do?
A: The Click2Enter-I is basically a scanner radio receiver combined with a computer that can be programmed to take certain actions when certain radio frequencies are received. In our case, those frequencies are those used by Public Safety, Property Development, or Industrial users, and the action is typically the opening of motor-operated vehicle gates.

Q: What keeps the Click2Enter unit from receiving radio signals and then opening gates as a result of normal communication operations (i.e. “spurious activations”)?
A: The Click2Enter unit is range-able. Through programming, you can adjust the ability of the system to “hear,” from 10 feet to 1,500 feet. You can control how close you need to be to the unit to activate it. Also, the unit can be set to require two radio pulses for activation, further reducing the chance of spurious activations.

Q: Which frequencies can be used to activate the Click2Enter-I?
A: The Click2Enter-I operates on low and high band UHF and VHF frequencies, including those used by public safety agencies, airport operations, and FRS-type radios.

Q: How many frequencies can be programmed in to the Click2Enter-I?
A: Up to 50 frequencies can be programmed into the Click2Enter-I unit.

Q: Does the Click2Enter-I come complete with operation frequencies pre-programmed?
A: No, you need to program the unit for the unique frequencies you or the ultimate system user has chosen for your specific installation.

Q: How do you connect to the Click2Enter unit for programming?
A: The Click2Enter-I communicates with your laptop or desktop computer using the Hyper-terminal program that is resident on most Windows-based computers. Please see the Operators & Installers Guide for more details, Section 5.

Q: I have a standard serial port on my computer. Which cable do I use?
A: A standard RS-232 9-pin serial cable is the right cable to use.

Q: I have a USB port on my computer. Which cable do I use?
A: We recommend the IOGear P/N GUC232A. See www.iogear.com. While other commercially available cables may work, we have not tested them to ensure operability.

Q: Where should the Click2Enter-I unit be mounted?
A: The Click2Enter unit should be mounted where it is easily visible from the point where it will be operated. It is necessary for the operator to see the red activation LED on the face of the unit. We also recommend that the unit be installed as close to the gate operator as possible. This makes installation easier and reduces the opportunity for voltage drop between the unit and the operator.

Q: What are the Click2Enter-I Power Requirements?
A: The Click2Enter-I unit needs 12 volts of clean power. We highly recommend the use of the power supply offered in our price list (EPS12VDC). We do not recommend using operator power as it is typically not a filtered, clean 12 volt power supply.

Q: When do I need to use the Heater Kit?
A: In areas where temperatures fall below 14° F, we recommend use of the heater kit to ensure that the radio crystal maintains its reception capability. When exposed to low temperatures, the system can lose sensitivity and activation range can be significantly reduced.

Q: What happens if the gate operator loses power?
A: The Click2Enter unit does not change the basic operability of the gate system. If power to the Click2Enter-I unit is lost, there is a back-up battery in the unit that will power the Click2Enter-I clock functions until power is restored. Programming will not be lost. We recommend changing the battery every 5 years.

Q: Does the Click2Enter-I unit effect normal operations of the gate?
A: No. Normal gate operations such as key-code or key-card opening, remote opening and closing operations, etc., are not effected. The Click2Enter-I unit simply sends an open signal to the operator when activated.

Q: Are there applications that should be avoided?
A: If you have any questions regarding the ability of the Click2Enter-I to operate effectively in your application, please contact us at 1-877-939-3800 or use the contact us page.

Q: Can the Click2Enter system work on trunked systems?
A: Yes, up to 50 frequencies can be loaded into the Click2Enter-I unit. The only limitation is that only the “single-click” activation method is available in trunked system operations. The preferred method for operation in a trunk system is to use simplex or talk-around frequencies/channels.

Q: The Red Activation LED is constantly illuminated. What is wrong?
A: Typically, this means that the unit has either experienced a power outage and/or a spike in voltage and has automatically “locked” itself as a protective measure. To return to normal operations, you need to de-power then re-power the unit. If this does not clear the problem, please call us for technical support.

Q: What is the simplest way to deploy the Click2Enter?
A: Our recommendation is for the Public Service Agencies to designate one or two simplex, off-trunk frequencies for use as gate access channels. This eases the process of unit programming, eliminates any chance of spurious activation, and most fully supports the unique Click2Enter value proposition of true mutual aid access.
